Supported Online Therapy

Online therapy is ideal if you don’t want to travel or you’re pushed for time. Accessible via smartphone, tablet or home computer – any time day or night – this treatment option is designed to work around your schedule. What’s more, service reviews prove this option is just as effective as face-to-face treatments.

What is Supported Online Therapy?

Supported Online Therapy is an NHS-approved mental health treatment programme delivered through SilverCloud — a digital platform that helps people manage common mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and low mood.

It combines structured online modules with regular support from a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). This means you get the best of both worlds — the flexibility of online therapy with the guidance of a trained clinician.

Who is it for?

Supported Online Therapy is suitable for adults who are:

  • Experiencing mild to moderate anxiety
  • Feeling low in mood or depressed
  • Looking for flexible mental wellbeing support
  • Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet or computer

It’s particularly helpful if you have a busy schedule, inconsistent daily routine, or find it difficult to attend regular face-to-face appointments.

How does it work?

We offer a range of online programmes designed to support anxiety, depression and panic. Each programme is made up of 7–8 interactive modules that combine written content, short videos and practical activities.

You’ll work through the modules independently at a pace that suits you. Most people complete one 30–40 minute session per week over 8–10 weeks. Activities between sessions are an important part of helping you apply what you learn.

Throughout the programme, a dedicated Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) will review your progress and provide regular guidance and encouragement. You can securely share your work and message your practitioner, allowing them to offer personalised support relevant to your needs.

How to get started in three easy steps

1. Complete a self referral

Start by completing a free self-referral to NHS Talking Therapies. You’ll be asked a few questions about how you’re feeling so we can understand your needs and guide you to the most appropriate support.

2. Have a short assessment

A trained clinician will get in touch to talk through your difficulties, answer any questions and discuss the treatment options available. This helps ensure you’re offered the right type of support, which may include Supported Online Therapy.

3. Get started with your online programme

If Supported Online Therapy is recommended, you’ll be set up on the programme and supported by a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. You’ll work through weekly online modules at your own pace, with regular check-ins and guidance throughout.
